Jon Raine - Bristol Light Festival 2027
The images provided are intended to illustrate the artistic concept and potential visual impact of the work.
The locations shown represent aspirational or best-case scenarios rather than fixed sites. The installation is designed to be adaptable and can be scaled to suit different buildings, budgets and technical requirements. For example, projecting across a street onto a single façade could achieve a similar audience experience while being significantly simpler and more cost-effective to deliver.

Interactive LED wall sculptures: ‘A group of letters and gaps that make no sense’
Audiences discover that the projections are responding to them. Children, in particular, tend to recognise the interaction almost immediately. They run, jump and change direction to test the system.

To keep this within budget, I would use one scaffolding tower mounted with three projectors.

Interactive LED wall video sculpture: ‘Gobbledygook’. The typography is fused, layered and intertwined so that the word becomes hidden.
The video below shows how it reacts when people are within range of the sensors.

The Hatch Collective show 2026

This shows how the sculpture animates as audiences move through the space; the projections respond in real time. Using LiDAR sensors, the artwork measures the distance and speed of visitors. The closer and faster people move towards the projection, the more animated, fragmented and chaotic the typography becomes.
